Hanover Grange is a luxury stay in Jamaica

Theresa and Andrew Roberts have enjoyed time in the spotlight.
They have been interviewed on BBC and American TV stations, with their story being carried in every major national newspaper in the United Kingdom. They have been seen in the company of British prime ministers, those of the royal family and British high society. Our local media houses have also featured them.
I invite you to their Jamaican home so that we can fully appreciate what the hellacious hullabaloo is all about.

Andrew and Theresa Roberts meet Prince Charles at Gala Dinner 2019

The annual dinner for patrons and supporters of the Royal Drawing School hosted by Prince Charles and held at Buckingham Palace had a distinctly Jamaican theme this year. The two keynote speeches were made by Oliver Macdonald Oulds and Cherie Smith, the two artists selected for the Hanover Grange Residency in Jamaica this year. Both speakers were enthusiastic about the opportunity afforded to them to work and paint in Jamaica for two weeks. The Hanover Grange Residency is funded by Theresa and Andrew Roberts who are longstanding patrons of the Royal Drawing School, and Buckingham Palace habitues.

“Reggae Girlz are bringing their own style to France 2019”
Inside World Football, 11 June 2019

Last time Jamaica were in a World Cup final tournament in France was in 1998 when the Reggae Boyz instantly won hearts and minds as every football fan’s favourite second team. Now it’s the Reggae Girlz turn to bring the athleticsm and joy in the style only Jamaicans can.
Currently the top women’s national football team in the Caribbean region and the first one to ever qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, they open their campaign against Brazil on June 9.
Their rise to competing on the biggest football stage of all has been a rags to riches story.
The team is backed by ambassador Cedella Marley, the daughter of the late Bob Marley, who aids in raising awareness for the team and encourages development as well as providing for it financially.
Now with the Jamaica National Building Society as a sponsor, Marley has pushed this group of players and the women’s game from the fringes of sport in Jamaica to the centre of the nation’s consciousness.
Along the way they have gathered the support of the Jamaican diaspora, particularly in the UK, where the
team were hosted last week in London by Theresa and Andrew Roberts, owners of the Jamaica Patty Company and the Hanover Grange Estate in Jamaica.

“Mica Sings Ella at Hanover Grange”

The Style Observer, 9 December, 2018

Mica Paris's voice is not one of those play-in-the-background-while-cleaning or heard-everyday-on-the-radio pop voices. Hers is the kind of voice that could be the soundtrack of a revolution; the kind that makes you wish you had half that talent; the kind that invites the Holy Spirit to wash over the pews of a church. She has enjoyed tremendous fame, sung with Prince onstage and has successfully toured her Mica Sings Ella project all over the world. And on Tuesday, December 5 Jamaica got its turn... once more.

“Jazz thrilled the Second City”

The Gleaner, 8 December, 2018

Jazz great Mica Paris was as enthralled by her audience as they were with her. They were also equally impressed by the competence of pianist Lloyd Shirley, assigned to play alongside the jazz sensation on Tuesday night at Hanover Grange at the fabulous Tryall Club in Hanover.
Philanthropist Theresa Roberts and husband Andrew opened up their Jamaican villa to an intimate group of music lovers all in the name of charity. This year's recipients were the advocacy group Sarah's Children and the Women's Health Network.
When Paris entered the miniature stage and opened her mouth in tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, the audience was totally blown away, and many were pleasantly surprised.

“Extravagant Mica Paris event”

The Gleaner, 7 December, 2018

The Hanover Grange Villa at the Tryall Club was on metaphorical fire on Tuesday night, as renowned UK-based jazz vocalist Mica Paris wowed lovers of the music genre in what was her second charity concert performance in Jamaica.
The fourth generation Jamaican's entire performance, dubbed 'Mica Paris Sings Ella', was dedicated to the Queen of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald, who is known for hits such as Old McDonald, Dream a Little Dream of Me and Summertime.
The event was staged by English/Jamaican philanthropist Theresa Roberts, assisted by Richard Ferdinand of Tryall and friends, in aid of Sarah's Children and Women's Health Network.
For event host Theresa Roberts, it was her utmost pleasure to once again stage the annual fundraiser, on a night outside the weekend and still get maximum support.
"I knew we were gonna love it, because her voice is so special and I know about her Jamaican heritage and her grandparents, so I knew it was gonna be good, so I was glad when she said yes."

The Style Observer, 6 December, 2018

If you've never heard of British soul singer Mica Paris, not to worry: we'll fix that. Described by Abu Dhabi news outlet The National as “your favourite singer's preferred artist”, Paris has a voice that's part Dame Shirley Bassey and part Anita Baker. These vocal chops brought her fame at a young age and have afforded her the opportunity to sing alongside Prince (RIP) on-stage and tour globally.

A Moment with... Nia Long
Jamaica Observer, Sunday, February 24, 2013

I'm an island girl so I can't get enough of the Caribbean and Jamaica is definitely one of my favourite islands. I've been here as a host of Caribbean Fashion Week in the past and for several vacations.

What are you up to this time around?
This trip is purely for fun as my girlfriend Jessica Huie and I are guests of the fabulous Theresa Roberts at Hanover Grange. Her home is just beautiful and every suite is named after a famous Jamaican artist - I'm in the Barrington Watson suite and Jess is in the Albert Huie suite (naturally.)

What's motherhood like the second time around?
Motherhood is not easy but it is natural, and I am having a wonderful time enjoying baby Kez (Kez's father is basketball star Ime Udoka). I have never been happier...
